Standardisation in the pipeline?
Calls for a standardised set of tournament rules continued to grow after at least two rules were called into question at this years WSOP.
Both rules 87 and 31 were the cause of dispute. Rule 87 deals with the use of mobile phones, it stated ‘A player who wants to use a cell phone must be at least one table length away from their assigned table or be subject to penalty.

Celebrity Poker

Poker seems to hold an appeal for celebrities. For years actors, musicians, models and athletes have been going to Las Vegas for the opportunity to play in the prestigious WSOP tournament at the Rio Hotel and Casino. Some are there for fun, some for the media and some because they simply can’t get enough.

The November Nine

On Tuesday morning Dean Hamrick was eliminated and the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event was put on pause. The first place prize of $9.1 million and the title of World Champion are both going to have to wait until November 9th and the return of the nine finalists to the Rio in Las Vegas to be claimed.

Tournament Schedule for WSOPE 2008 announced

The schedule for the second annual World Series of Poker Europe, presented by Betfair.com has been announced. The tournament will take place in LCI’s prestigious venues in London from September 19th to October 2nd. The 2007 event featured 623 entrants competing for £1,305,215 over 3 tournaments. The main event saw Norway’s Annette Obrestad win the largest amount ever for a female, £1 million, beating Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Johnny Chan.
