Poker books can be extremely useful in helping to teach you how to play.

Books for beginners will teach you the basics if you have never played before. They cover the rules, the etiquette, and card variations. No matter how far you want to progress in poker it is best to start at the beginning, be thorough, and work your way up.

Poker Etiquette

Poker etiquette is an important part of the game, and it is important for the more experienced players to provide a good example.

It is important to every poker room that the environment you play in is enjoyable and safe for all, and they expect all players to abide by the rules of poker courtesy. As poor manners results in a hostile atmosphere, it is in everyone’s interests that there is good poker courtesy at the table.

Poker Position

There are four named positions at a poker table. The Dealer position, the early position, the middle position, and the late position. The dealer position, also known as ‘on the button’ because of the dealer button that is passed around, is the most coveted. After the flop takes place the dealer is the last to act, so they are able to watch the other players before having to make their decision. This does mean though, that as they are the only player to get information on all the other players before making a move, that aggressive play is expected. The majority of hands can be considered for play here, apart from trash hands such as 9 2, 10 4 offsuit.

Tips for Texas Poker

There are a number of different versions on Texas hold’em. These include no limit, pot limit, and fixed limit variations. These all refer to the different limits on wagers during each given hand, while the basic rules of the game are the same. No limit is probably the best known as this is the one seen on television, and this is partly because it is the most exciting. No limit poker means that a player can bet all in during any round of betting, whilst in pot limit poker, the size of the wager is limited to the size of the pot, or pool. TV poker can make you money

The popularity of watching poker on tv has grown immensely recently. This is partly due to the amount of non-players drawn in by the people and the psychology of the game, rather than the cards themselves. It has become the latest reality tv show.
