Pokerstars bans Sharkscope

The use of database site SharkScope.com has joined Poker Edge and TheCashDB as one of 42 programs that are now banned by PokerStars. SharkScope, according to it’s website, has amassed a database of 178 million sit ‘n’ go tournaments, but a player found to be using it whilst playing on PokerStars can now expect anything from a warning to being banned.

Internet Gambling to be censored in Oz?

Following Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear’s seizing of 141 internet gambling domain names in the United States, it looks as though Australia may be planning to do the same. According to an article featured in ‘The Age’, Family First Senator, Steve Fielding, is in favour of blocking ‘hardcore pornography and fetish material’ by ISP and claims that Senator Xenophon would ‘look to use [the ban] to block Australians from accessing overseas online casinos, which are illegal to run in Australia.’
Senator Nick Minchin told The Age, ‘That’s the problem with having this sort of highly centralized government-mandated nationwide filtering system.

Hard Rock was not a hard sell

The first ever Dream Team Poker tournament at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas was a sell out with 25 three-person teams taking the field this November.
The game was a traditional Texas Hold’em tournament, however when each player is knocked out, they receive a score based on their position relative to the size of the field. Dual incentives were given with prizes for both individuals and teams.

LEOCOP is back

Rule Standardisation

Standardisation in the pipeline?
Calls for a standardised set of tournament rules continued to grow after at least two rules were called into question at this years WSOP.
Both rules 87 and 31 were the cause of dispute. Rule 87 deals with the use of mobile phones, it stated ‘A player who wants to use a cell phone must be at least one table length away from their assigned table or be subject to penalty.
